DESCRIPTION:

We are looking for an ambitious Prep Chef to assist in the preparation of delicious dishes in our kitchen!

As part of our team of chefs, individuals will be able to perform routine kitchen tasks such as setting up workstations & ingredients so that food can be prepared according to our recipes. The ideal candidate will be quick, diligent & willing to improve whilst working on the job. You will be deft & able to follow instructions as well as all health & safety rules in the kitchen. The ability to function in a fast-paced, busy environment is essential.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Follow the prep list created by chefs in order to plan duties

• Correctly label & stock all ingredients on shelves so they can be easily accessible

• Measure ingredients & seasonings to be used in cooking

• Prepare cooking ingredients by washing & chopping vegetables, cutting meat etc.

• Undertake basic cooking duties such as reducing sauces, parboiling food etc.

• Prepare simple dishes

• Maintain a clean & orderly kitchen at all times by washing dishes, sanitising surfaces, disposing of garbage etc.

• Ensure all food & other items are stored properly

• Comply with nutritional & sanitation guidelines

• Perform other kitchen duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS & SKILLS:

• Proven experience as a Prep Chef

• Knowledge of industry-standard health & safety rules in a kitchen

• Manual dexterity in order to safely operate cutting tools & kitchen utensils

• A team player with excellent communication skills

• Patience with an ability to stay positive & calm under pressure

• Very good physical condition & endurance

• College diploma or equivalent is desirable; Training from a culinary school will be an asset
